How long does the Grow Sensor battery last?
Battery life depends on the mode you select:
Standard mode (default): Lasts approximately 2 weeks on a single charge.
Power-saving mode: Reduces the frequency of readings from power-hungry sensors, extending battery life up to 10 weeks.
Low battery & offline data logging
When the battery drops to 5%, the Grow Sensor stops sending data but continues taking readings offline, ensuring you don’t lose any crucial data.
You’ll receive low-battery notifications to remind you to recharge before this happens.
If the battery fully depletes, simply press the button to wake up the sensor after recharging.
Battery management
Adjusting the settings in the battery management section can significantly extend your battery life.
There are two key settings that influence this:
1. Sensor reading interval
This determines how often the Grow Sensor takes a reading. By default, it’s set to every 3 minutes.
Extending this interval to 10 minutes results in a substantial power saving, allowing the battery to last much longer.
However, increasing the interval to 10 minutes means the sensor will only communicate with the app every 10 minutes.
As a result, any changes you make - such as adjusting a temperature limit - won’t be applied until the next communication cycle.
For instance, setting a temperature limit of 27°C won’t take effect or appear in the app until up to 10 minutes later.
2. High-power sensor sampling
You can also adjust the sampling frequency of the more power-intensive sensors within the Grow Sensor.
The device includes a range of sensors, but the CO2 sensor and soil probe are among the most power-hungry.
When this power-saving option is enabled, these sensors only take readings once every four sampling intervals.
For example, if the main sampling interval is set to 3 minutes, the CO₂ and soil sensors will provide data every 12 minutes (3 × 4 = 12).
